We should be precise about the area. We supply South East Queensland: Brisbane and its surrounds, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan and the border regions. We are not claiming to cover the whole state, and if you are in North Queensland there are better options for you than freight from Brisbane.
Within South East Queensland we hold stock locally, deliver quickly, and can get someone to a store or a site without it being a major exercise.

We opened in Brisbane because South East Queensland was being supplied from northern New South Wales or from further afield, and that is not a good way to run a trade supply business. Membranes are bulky, builders need them at short notice, and a two-day freight run turns a simple order into a scheduling problem.

Condensation Management in the Queensland Climate
This is where South East Queensland differs from most of the country, and where a lot of specification goes wrong.
Most Australian condensation guidance is written for climates where the vapour drive runs outward: it is warm and humid inside, cold and dry outside, and moisture wants to move from the interior into the wall. That is the situation the NCC deemed-to-satisfy provisions for zones 4 through 8 are designed around.
South East Queensland is climate zone 2, humid subtropical, and for much of the year the drive runs the other way. It is hot and humid outside, and if the building is air conditioned it is cooler and drier inside. Moisture wants to move inward through the wall toward the conditioned space.
The practical consequences are real:
A vapour barrier on the inside face can be a mistake. In a cooling-dominated climate, an internal vapour barrier can trap inward-driven moisture against the back of the plasterboard, which is exactly where you do not want it.
Ventilated cavities matter more. A drained and ventilated cavity behind the cladding lets the assembly dry in both directions and handles the wind-driven rain that comes with the summer storm season.
External membrane choice is about drying, not just weather. The membrane needs to shed water while letting the assembly dry, and in this climate it needs to permit drying in whichever direction the conditions demand.
This is not an argument for skipping the membrane. It is an argument for thinking about the whole assembly rather than copying a wall section from a Melbourne project.

Do I need a vapour permeable membrane in Brisbane?
