Pro Clima Supplier Northern Rivers
Our Home Base at Pearces Creek
We are based at Pearces Creek, between Ballina and Lismore. It is where Scholten Group started and remains our primary base for the Northern Rivers.
Pro Clima distribution for the region runs from right here, which means stock is close to builders and merchants throughout Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore and the surrounding area.
Northern Rivers stockists generally receive product the next business day, subject to stock and delivery schedules.
Where It Started
Before we distributed Pro Clima, we built with it.
Stewart and Cameron Scholten are licensed builders and both hold Passive House trade certification.
One of the projects that changed the direction of the business was the Certified Passivhaus Classic home we built in Ballina.
The project achieved an airtightness result of 0.08 air changes per hour at 50 pascals. Its timber frame construction used structural OSB-3, an adhesive water resistant airtight barrier, continuous wood fibre insulation and a ventilated cavity.
Project documentation records it as the first Australian residential building constructed using that particular complete assembly.
Building it gave us first-hand experience of the level of planning and detailing required to create a genuinely high performance building envelope.
Building in a Warm Humid Climate
The Northern Rivers is predominantly ABCB climate zone 2, with warm humid summers, high rainfall and widespread use of mechanical cooling.
Those conditions create different moisture risks to cooler southern climates.
Building envelope design needs to manage several things at once: wind driven rain from outside, air movement through the assembly, water vapour, indoor humidity and the ability of materials to dry if moisture gets in.
That is why we prefer to look at the wall or roof as a complete system rather than selecting a membrane in isolation.
Weather resistive barriers, airtightness, insulation, cavities, cladding and internal moisture management all affect how the assembly performs.
The appropriate approach depends on the project, materials and exposure, particularly where buildings are highly insulated or air conditioned for long periods.

Training in the Northern Rivers
We run training throughout the Northern Rivers for builders, trades, designers and merchant teams.
Sessions combine building science with hands-on installation. Recent training at Bangalow A&I Hall included theory with a Pro Clima technical engineer followed by practical weather resistive barrier installation.
We also provide product training for stockist teams and installation support where appropriate.
FAQs
Can I collect from Pearces Creek?
We supply Pro Clima through our stockist network rather than selling directly to the public. Use our directory to find your nearest supplier.
Do I need a vapour permeable membrane in the Northern Rivers?
Climate zone 2 is treated differently under the NCC 2022 Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions to cooler climate zones 4 to 8.
Membrane selection should be considered as part of the complete wall or roof assembly, including weather protection, airtightness, insulation, cavities and drying potential.
