Pro Clima Training for Builders and Retail Staff

Training That Brings Builders Into Your Store

If you stock building membranes, the hardest part is not the shelf space. It is that a builder standing at your counter has a technical question and needs an answer before he buys.

We run training on both sides of that problem. We train retail staff so they can answer the question, and we train builders so they know what to ask for in the first place. Both are free to our stockists.

A training day held at or near your store tends to produce sales for weeks afterward. Builders who spend an afternoon learning to detail a window opening properly generally buy the tape from whoever showed them.

On-Site and Group Training for Trades

The format we use most is a half day split in two: an hour of theory, then an hour or more of hands-on installation.

The theory covers what the products do and why the detail matters. Vapour drive, where condensation forms, what the code requires in your climate zone. We usually run this part with a Pro Clima technical engineer, so the building science comes from someone who does it full time.

Then everyone puts tools on a mock-up. Wrapping a corner, sealing a window head, taping a lap on a cold substrate, fitting a grommet around a pipe. Most of the value is in the second hour. Reading about tape adhesion is not the same as failing to get a seal on a dusty surface and finding out why priming exists.

Recent sessions have included:

Bangalow A&I Hall, Northern Rivers. Two identical two-hour sessions, morning and afternoon. Theory with Pro Clima’s technical engineer, followed by a hands-on WRB installation demonstration.

Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast. An evening session run with Arthaus Projects and Highwood Timber, covering airtightness, moisture control and structural ventilation, with product demonstrations and installation methods.

We also run sessions directly on site. If a builder has a job starting and wants his crew shown the detailing before they begin, that is often the most useful training there is.

Product Training for Retail Staff

Counter staff do not need to be building scientists. They need to handle five or six recurring conversations confidently.

A typical session covers: what each product in the range does, which membrane suits which climate zone, why vapour permeability matters, what the NCC actually requires, which products go together, and how to recognise when a customer is about to buy the wrong thing.

It takes about ninety minutes and we come to you. There is no charge for stockists.

What a Training Day Looks Like

Sessions usually run two to four hours depending on format. Group sizes are kept small enough that everyone gets hands on the materials, generally under twenty people.

We provide the materials, the mock-ups and the tools. Attendees bring nothing.

Most sessions are free. We usually cater them, because a session that runs through a meal break otherwise loses half the room. Numbers are generally required in advance so we know how much material to bring.
