Pro Clima training for better building

Taught from construction experience

Before Scholten Group became a Pro Clima Partner, we were builders using these systems ourselves.

Stewart and Cameron Scholten are licensed builders and Certified Passive House Tradespeople, with first-hand experience delivering high performance construction in the Northern Rivers.

That means our training is grounded in the realities of site work.

We understand that the interesting questions usually appear around the window opening, roof junction or service penetration that does not quite look like the diagram in the installation manual.

Where appropriate, our sessions are also run alongside Pro Clima technical specialists, combining construction experience with deeper product and building science expertise.

Better products still need good installation

A high performance membrane is only as effective as the way it is detailed and installed.

That is why training is such an important part of what we do.

Our sessions are designed to bridge the gap between the technical principles behind the building envelope and what actually happens on a construction site.

We work through the products, demonstrate installation techniques and give participants the opportunity to work directly with membranes, tapes, sealants and common building details.

Most sessions are free and many are run alongside Pro Clima technical specialists.

Getting the details right on site

Our installation workshops are designed for the people who actually have to make building envelope details work.

Rather than spending the session looking at a screen, we get the products onto the bench and work through common installation situations together.

Depending on the session, topics may include:

  • Weather resistive barrier systems
  • Airtightness and intelligent air barrier systems
  • Membrane installation and sequencing
  • Tapes, sealants and system accessories
  • Window and door openings
  • Corners, junctions and penetrations
  • Pipes, cables and other services
  • Connecting different materials and substrates
  • Common installation mistakes and how to avoid them
  • The principles behind moisture management and airtightness

The aim is simple: to leave with a better understanding of the system and more confidence using it on site.

Understanding why makes the how easier

Training is not just about learning which tape goes where.

Airtightness, weathertightness and moisture management are connected parts of the building envelope. Understanding those principles makes it much easier to make good decisions when you encounter a detail that was not covered in the drawings.

Our sessions help explain concepts such as:

  • How moisture moves through a building assembly
  • The difference between airtightness and vapour control
  • Why buildings need to manage both water and drying potential
  • How uncontrolled air movement affects energy performance and moisture risk
  • Why continuity matters across membranes, junctions and penetrations
  • How different Pro Clima products work together as a system

You do not need to be a building scientist. The focus is on making these ideas useful on a real project.

Training for everyone involved in the building envelope

Builders and carpenters

Learn how Pro Clima systems come together in real construction details and develop installation skills you can take straight back to site.

Trades and installers

Get familiar with the membranes, tapes, sealants and detailing methods used to create continuous airtight and weathertight layers.

Architects and designers

Build a stronger working understanding of how envelope details are translated from drawings into construction and where problems commonly arise.

Merchant teams

Understand the Pro Clima range, how the different systems work together and the questions builders are likely to ask when they walk into your store.

Training across the region

We run sessions throughout the regions we support, with recent training held in locations including Bangalow in the Northern Rivers and Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

Want to build your knowledge?

Whether you are installing Pro Clima for the first time, looking to improve your detailing or want your team to better understand building envelope systems, we would be happy to have you along.

Help your team talk confidently about Pro Clima

For merchants stocking Pro Clima, product knowledge makes a significant difference.

We train stockist teams so staff understand the range, the purpose of the major systems and how products fit together.

Training can help your team answer common customer questions, identify the right product family and know when a question needs to be referred to Scholten Group or the Pro Clima technical team.

Looking for training for your team?

If you have a building team, trade group, merchant staff or industry organisation interested in learning more about Pro Clima and high performance building envelopes, talk to us.

We regularly work with the industry throughout NSW and South East Queensland and can discuss training opportunities for your group.
